Slack Communication
Annenberg Media uses Slack for its primary communication within the newsroom. This is distinct from the university and paid for by the Media Center’s editorial budget, meaning it is not an official USC workspace and it is not automatic to be a member.
Students participating in any classes based in the Media Center will get a Slack invitation during that particular semester. Operations staff regularly clear out the Slack members, and if a student has Slack access they may get removed the following semester.
Students who sign up to be contributors to a desk, vertical or program will also get a Slack invitation for use that semester.
When a student graduates, we make the student a single-channel guest in #joblistings to help students connect with specific opportunities and to allow them to share any opportunities. That access will expire after two years.
If a student does not have access they can email annenbergmc@usc.edu — make sure “Slack access” is in the subject line.
While Slack is a lively and fun space for students to interact, the university has its own Slack workspaces for things like tickets for sale and surveys for a class.
