Studio C Open Lab Guidelines

Welcome to Studio C during Open Lab hours! This space is available for students who want to practice or record video content in a broadcast television studio. Below are the key details of what you can expect when using Studio C during Open Lab time: 

Available Setups: 

  • Sit at the main anchor desk set (1-3 people)  
  • Sit at the Pit (1-3 people)  
  • Stand at the Weather Wall (1-2 people) 

Custom Graphics: 

You may provide a custom still image or graphic for use on the Weather Wall and desk with the following specifications: 

  • 1920×1080 resolution 
  • jpeg or png 
  • at least 150 dpi 

Camera Operation: 

Up to three cameras may be used. 

You must bring someone to switch the cameras for you. You may not move the cameras from their positions on the floor. 

Teleprompter Use: 

You can read from the teleprompter. 

You must bring someone to roll the teleprompter for you. 

Audio: 

A Lavalier microphone will be provided for you and any guests. 

Recording & File Transfer: 

Your session will be recorded on an SSD. 

After recording, you will need to transfer your footage onto your storage device. 

Livestreaming? Please use Studio A or B. 

Using Your Camera: 

You may use your camera or phone to record your session. 

You must provide a microphone system (available in the equipment room) if you use your camera or phone. Our studio mics cannot interface with your camera or phone. 

You can still utilize the teleprompter if you wish. You must bring someone to operate the teleprompter for you. 

Studio cameras MUST remain on their marks, they CANNOT be moved to accommodate personal cameras.  Failure to comply with this could result in the inability to use the Open Studio time. 

Studio Reset: 

You must use the last 15 minutes to replace chairs in their original position and throw away any trash you might have brought in.
